What are the chances of MMA being sanctioned in Ontario?

There is not a hope in hell of getting it sanctioned in Ontario. the only possability would be the way it started in Quebec on Indian reserves.

I agree with Idafreak - I was in New Brunswick 2 years ago and a major planned mma event was cancelled - it made the newspaper, so I called the promoter to see where the difficulty came up. He said that until the sport is regulated to the extent that boxing is, the municipalities were unwilling to host the event. There's no sanctionning body like the Nevada State Boxing Commission to control the sport. It's almost a circular problem - the sport isn't big enough for the host municipalities to develop a governing body, and there's no governing body, so the municipalities don't want to touch the sport for liability reasons, among others. Sorry Andrew, hate to see you lose the only one you have left.

I was just going on hear say from coaches and practitioners in Ontario. There were rumblings that mma was on its way to being given the green light.

Lets hope the proper steps are taken sooner rather then later so that i can retain my genitals.

That would great! I would love to see the MMA sanctioned in our country. I would learn a lot more about the sport too. A know a lot of young guys (my students) who would love this, especially as something to look forward to. The polls say it's a slim chance, but I have my fingers crossed that this may change. Keep me posted everyone!

Correct me if im wrong but isnt TKO a Canadian MMA organisation? UFC are always looking to conquer new terrotory so you never know people? especially if GSP becomes the new Welter weight Champ!
